PRO FOOTBALL -- October 8

SEATTLE at CAROLINA -- Brock Huard is not likely to have things together any more then Jon Kitna had before him. In fact, one could envision an actual downgrade in QB efficiency here with second-year man Huard getting his first start. Heaven knows the Seahawks don't protect their passers very well (21 sacks allowed), and with Reggie White and Eric Swann getting a little more comfortable in the Panthers' defensive scheme (both had a sack last week), Carolina might finally be able to do some damage on the pass rush. Seahawks have already committed 14 turnovers, and last week's collapse against Kansas City won't do much for morale. Panthers need RB Tim Biakabutuka to shake off last week's two-fumble performance, and the recipe might be right, as Seattle surrenders 4.5 yards a carry. Would count on Steve Beuerlein to engineer a bounceback before anyone the Hawks can offer up under center. THE PLAY: CAROLINA ***
