WE'RE BACK TO "WILL HE" OR "WON'T HE" WITH ROY JONES
As many people will be attending Don King's New York press conference today and are expecting some kind of definitive announcements to be made, Roy Jones' organization offered this press release:

Pensacola, Florida  -- November 6, 2002

In response to the various press releases and announcements that have
been made in the past several days regarding a press conference scheduled for
New York on Thursday, World Light Heavyweight Champion Roy Jones Jr.
responded, "I have only one agenda and that is to win the WBA Heavyweight
Championship…period."

The champ went on to say, "I will not be attending any announcements or
press conferences regarding that match until I am completely satisfied with
the terms of the contract. Once I am at that stage, I will be more than happy
to officially announce to the world my goal of being the next Heavyweight
champion."

Jones reiterated his earlier thoughts on a so-called Heavyweight series.
Jones observed, " I wish Byrd and Holyfield good luck on their upcoming fight
but I am concentrating on my battle with John Ruiz and nothing else. I cannot
be sidetracked by any other thoughts."

The champ went on to say that you shouldn't expect to hear from him again
until such time that he has signed the formal long-form contract for Ruiz.
"That's it, I've said all I'm going to say about Ruiz or anybody else, next
time you hear from me it will be on the dais staring down the Heavyweight
champion."
