RISING STARS HIGHLIGHT FORREST/MOSLEY FIGHT UNDERCARD
JULY 20 AT CONSECO FIELDHOUSE IN INDIANAPOLIS
Harding vs Tarver Bout Along with Vinson, Dokawari and Indy Favorite Davis
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 27, 2002) The Vernon Forrest Shane Mosley undercard will
also pack a powerful punch. In addition to the WBC Welterweight Championship rematch, the
lineup for the July 20th fight night at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis features two of
boxings most talented young stars.
In the co-feature, highly-ranked Southpaw Eric Harding meets former Olympic medallist
Antonio Tarver in a 10 Round Light Heavyweight bout, a rematch of their June 2000 fight,
in which Harding prevailed by unanimous decision. The winner of the Harding/Tarver
showdown is expected to earn a title shot against WBC and IBF Light Heavyweight Champion
Roy Jones, Jr. (46-1, 37 KOs). This bout will also air on HBO preceding the Forrest Mosley
fight.
Indianas own will also showcase their talents in the ring. At least four boxers from
Indianapolis will be featured on the undercard, including Heavyweight Enrique Ruiz and
unbeaten Junior Middleweight Sherwin Davis. The Conseco Fieldhouse fight card will be the
Main Event of Indiana Black Expo Weeks Summer Celebration, now
celebrating its 32nd year.
As we continue to establish Conseco Fieldhouse as the boxing mecca of the Midwest,
we recognize the importance of showcasing our homegrown talent and giving fans added
incentive to be part of this historic night of boxing, said David Kahn, General

The main event is one of the most anticipated fights of the year and is being billed as
the Rematch of the Century. WBC Welterweight Champion Forrest (34-0, 26 KOs)
shocked the world with an upset win over Mosley in January. He now takes on former champ
Sugar Shane (38-1, 35 KOs) in his first title defense. Home Box Office will
telecast the fight live as part of its World Championship Boxing series, starting at 9:30
p.m. ET/ 6:30 p.m. PT.
Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis is one of the worlds preeminent multi-use
facilities. Home to the NBAs Indiana Pacers and WNBA Indiana Fever since the
1999-2000 season, it has quickly established itself as a force in the sports and
entertainment worlds. From the expanded seating, to the concession stands, to the amazing
and intimate site lines, to the artist-friendly acoustics, the entire Fieldhouse was built
with the fan in mind. Stretching more than 14 stories into the Indianapolis skyline, the
Fieldhouse has 18,500 seats, including 71 suites and 2,500 club seats.
The Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration runs from July 15-21, 2002 and attracts an
estimated 200,000 visitors annually. In addition to the Forrest/Mosley fight, weeklong
activities include business workshops, an ecumenical service, an employment opportunity
fair, the largest black & minority health fair, various receptions and concerts, over
1,000 consumer exhibits and a host of local and national celebrities who flock to
Indianapolis to join in the celebration.
