NOW THE SERIES IS A DIFFERENT STORY

After the Philadelphia 76ers came into the Staples Center and upset the L.A. Lakers in Game 1 of the NBA Championship series, the price on the series naturally dropped - dramatically. At England's BlueSQ.com (http://www.bluesq.com), the Lakers are now just -600 to win the title, with the Sixers at +350. The Lakers are 3/1 to win it in five games, 11/8 to win it in six, and 11/5 to win in the full seven. The Sixers are now 40/1 for a series sweep, 10/1 to win it in five, 16/1 to win it in six, and 20/1 to win it in seven games.................Intertops (http://www.intertops.com) is offering a little more value with the defending champs - you can get 3/1 for Lakers in five, 2/1 for Lakers in six, and 5/2 for Lakers in seven. The prices for the Sixers offer a little less value, on the whole - 34/1 for a sweep, 12/1 for five games, 15/1 for six games, and 18/1 for seven........Canbet (http://www.canbet.com) is a little more liberal on their series price than BlueSQ, with the Lakers at -900/+580 to come back and win the whole thing..............Olympic Sports (http://www.thegreek.com) has the Lakers at -850/+650 to win the series, and at Sportsbook.com (http://www.sportsbook.com) they're -800/+500................William Hill (http://www.williamhill.co.uk) has the Lakers at 13/8 to win in five, 3/2 to win in six, and 7/2 to win seven, with the Sixers at 50/1, 20/1, 20/1, and 16/1 to win in four, five, six, and seven, respectively. William Hill's price for the series is Lakers -800, Sixers +550........The series price at Bowman's International (http://www.bowmans.com) is Lakers -800, Sixers +600...........

LADBROKES PROPS

Ladbrokes (http://www.ladbrokes.com) has several interesting propositions for the NBA Championship series. Allen Iverson is posted at 6/1 to score 50 or more points in one game during the series......Dikembe Mutombo is -250 to get 16 or more blocked shots, and +175 to have less than 16..........Shaquille O'Neal is a -200/+150 favorite over Mutombo to have the most rebounds in the series........And you can get 140 points and 10/1 with Horace Grant to score the most points during the series. Iverson is the favorite in that category, at +175.........Like BlueSQ, Ladbrokes has the Lakers at -600 to win the series, with a takeback of +350 on Philadelphia...........

BOXING ODDS UPDATE

If you really want, you can bet on tonight's women's "superfight" between Laila Ali and Jacqui Frazier-Lyde. Intertops (http://www.intertops.com) is carrying the event, where Ali is essentially a 4/1 favorite - you have to lay 5/1 on her, while taking back 3/1 on Frazier. The event should get some action, since the two fighters appeared on the cover of TV Guide this week. At The Charles Jay Line we give Frazier considerably less than a chance, making her a 9/1 underdog in our own estimation..............Oscar de la Hoya is a big favorite over Javier Castillejo in their WBC 154-pound title fight, scheduled for June 23 in Las Vegas. If you like Oscar, the best price we have been able to find is -1000 at Paddy Power (http://www.paddypower.com), while the best underdog price on Castillejo is +900 (9/1), which can be found at a few places - Intertops, World Sports Exchange (http://www.wsex.com), and English Sports Betting (http://www.telebet.com)..............The same night, Kostya Tszyu and Zab Judah will make defenses of their respective junior welterweight titles. William Hill has posted prices on these fights. Judah is a -1000/+550 favorite over Denmark's Allan Vester, while Tszyu is a shorter favorite (-600/+350) over Oktay Ukral, the #1 WBC contender. There would appear to be tremendous value in those two prices, as Judah's and Tszyu's opponents don't really stand much of a chance. Remember folks, the fight that is going to make some money down the road is Tszyu vs. Judah. The Hasim Rahman-style upset doesn't come along every day..............Incidentally, Judah is a -200/+150 favorite over Tszyu, if and when they do meet. Those odds may very well tighten up as the fight becomes a reality.............And while we're speaking of Hasim Rahman, I haven't seen anyone put a price up on Rahman's next defense against David Izon, primarily, I guess, because whether it happens may very well depend on the results of the court cases involving Rahman, Lennox Lewis, and promoters Cedric Kushner and Don King, which will take place on June 11. But SportingOdds.com (http://www.sportingodds.com) has numbers on prospective Rahman-Lewis and Rahman-Mike Tyson fights. Lewis is laying 9/1 to Rahman (-900), with a takeback of +450 (9/2). Propositions on the fight include: Lewis By KO - 1/5 , Lewis On Points - 4/1, Rahman By KO - 6/1, Rahman On Points - 14/1, Draw - 50/1. Tyson is also a substantial favorite over the heavyweight champion, laying 6/1 (-600), with a takeback of +350 (7/2) on Rahman. Props listed by SportingOdds on Rahman-Tyson: Tyson By KO - 1/5, Tyson On Points - 6/1, Rahman By KO - 5/1, Rahman On Points - 10/1, Draw - 50/1.........Evander Holyfield is a favorite in his August 4 WBA heavyweight title fight against John Ruiz. The best price you'll get on Ruiz right now is +110 at Intertops - at most places he's even money. Paddy Power has the fight at -120 either way, which is the best price we found on Holyfield so far...................Remember, these prices can change at a moment's notice, so check them out before you intend to take the plunge.

Of course, prices can change without notice. For best results, as always, shop around. And remember, we're just reporting; we don't necessarily endorse any of the sportsbooks mentioned here. All info for news matter only.

Good luck.
