WHO'S MY POLITICAL
HERO?
Winston Churchill is, I believe, perhaps the most important person of the 20th Century. At the outset of World War II, Hitler was annexing territory by the day. The Americans wer not yet engaged in battle, and as Great Britain was a pending target, Churchill was faced with the choice of submitting to the Nazi onslaught (the path of least resistance, to be sure), or standing firm to fight German terrorism, at great risk to his country and his people and with very little help from prospective allies. Churchill made the tough decision - he fought back, even though he knew he would take a beating, and in doing so provided inspiration for the rest of the free world. If he had succumbed, Hitler's Germany would have been extremely hard to stop. As it was, he very well may have saved the world.
